JOE

JoeWhat is your name and where are you From?

Joe.
O-H-I-O!

What did you know about CrossFit before coming here?

What did I know about CrossFit…I knew it was pivitol to daily survival! TRUTH…if you don’t have CrossFit in your life odds are you’re not going to make it.

How did you find out about CrossFit and why did you start?

Like many, I dabbled into CrossFit while deployed but never fully committed. I was the typical gym rat, back day, arm day, chest day…etc. I got bored, and needed something more. Then I noticed an advertisment for the opening of a local CrossFit gym in my community, Warrensburg, MO. I showed up to the first on-ramp course in April of 2012 and have been hooked since.

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle and level of fitness?

I was going through a rough time in my life, failing marriage, two young children, one whom is 100% dependent upon me for daily life. I needed something. I needed an outlet in my life, and I needed a place where I could better myself physically and mentally. CrossFit Believe is where I felt centered, and re-discovered myself. Not only did CrossFit help me through some tough times in my life…it helped me look better naked. Come on, everyone wants to look better naked…right?
So ever since leaving MO, I was searching for a gym that could make me feel centered again, and Pivot Point CrossFit was it. As soon as I walked through the doors I knew this was my new home.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Just over 3 years.

What is your favorite movement?

Clean & Jerk

Is there a workout or movement you would like to see more of?

Maybe more of the core benchmark WODs, and Oly lifting…def more Oly lifting.
Oh, and a 0530 class!

What are your goals for this year, and have you accomplished any goals already?

My goal for this year is to get myself back into the same shape I was in back in 2013. Oh…and maybe get some abs. Oh…AND snatch 185#. AND put this L1 Trainer Cert to use and start coaching at PPCF That’s all…

Describe your biggest milestone, achievement or “A-ha” moment?joe-2

My biggest milestone since living this CrossFit lifestyle has to be when I squat cleaned 225# for the first time…I remember I had been working on that weight for what seemed like forever! After that it all fell into place…amazing what happens when you listen to your coach.

What do you like most about Pivot Point CrossFit?

The FAMILY! I say family because that’s who we are…from day one Jody, JT and Charlie made me feel welcomed.

What encouragement or advice would you give to new people coming in?

1. Stick with it. CrossFit will change your life!
2. Don’t listen to all the naysayers out there. The proof is in the pudding!
3. Listen to your coach
4. Give it 110%. Just when you’re ready to give up, do one more rep…you’re capable of more than you know.
5. HAVE FUN!

What are some of your hobbies?

CrossFit…duh! I also enjoy hunting, anything outdoors, cooking, the beach, family, and beer. I just purchased a paddle board so I’m looking forward to spending time on the water.

Shout-Outs?

I have to give a shout out to my friend, and former coach/creator of CrossFit Believe, Alan Joyner for introducing me to CrossFit. Also Jody, JT, and Charlie for following their dream and bringing Pivot Point CrossFit to life. Lastly I want to give a shout out to all the Pivot Point ahtletes…it’s the people that make the gym. You guys rock!
